Professional Standards And Development
The Professional Standards and Development Division consists of three sections, each dedicated to ensuring that the highest standards of professionalism are attained, and subsequently maintained by the Sheriff's Office. These sections are the Professional Conduct Review Section, the Accreditation Section, and the Professional Development Section.
Professional Conduct Review
The Professional Conduct Review Section is responsible for the reception, processing and investigation of complaints made against Sheriff's Office employees. The section is also responsible for administratively supporting the Civilian Review Board, which is tasked with reviewing investigations related to alleged excessive use of force.
Accreditation Section
The Accreditation Section has, as its primary function, the responsibility of monitoring Sheriff's Office operations to ensure continued compliance with the strict standards articulated by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (C.A.L.E.A.) and the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Agencies (C.F.A.). In conjunction with this task, the section is also responsible for the development, review, cataloging and distribution of Sheriff's Office written directives.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Section is responsible for providing training to all Seminole County Sheriff's Office personnel, both sworn and non-sworn. Training is provided for all members of the agency to satisfy mandates from external sources including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, and the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as those mandated by the agency.
