Firearm Qualification

 

Firearms Qualification of Retired LEO

 

The Sheriff has approved the qualification of retired law enforcement officers on the Seminole Community College Range by our instructors. The qualification will be the FDLE 40 round course as prescribed by FDLE in order to satisfy the Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act of 2004 (LEOSA), otherwise known as HB 218.

The dates scheduled for the qualification are:

  • June 28 2008, 0900 - 1300
  • Dec 06 2008, 0900 - 1300

Retired officers must qualify annually and may show up anytime from 0900 - 1300 on those dates.

Retired officers must bring the following to the range;

  • Handgun
  • Two magazines minimum if qualifying with a semi-automatic pistol
  • 100 rounds of ammunition
  • Retired LEO credentials as well as another form of I.D. ( driver license, etc ). No one will be allowed to qualify without proper I.D.!
  • Eye & Ear protection
  • Hat or Cap
