Gun Safety

An educational video, co-produced by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Seminole Government Television (SGTV), has taken both a 3rd place award and honorable mention recently at a national contest sponsored by the National Association of Telecom Officers and Advisors (NATOA).

Produced in 2002, the purpose of the video was to promote gun safety and to teach young people not to handle guns they happen to find. The video, which runs about 4-1/2 minutes, has been airing on Seminole Government Television. It was entered into the national contest in 2003 by SGTV. It placed 3rd place in the category "Children: Operating Budget over $300,000" and Honorable Mention in the category "Public Safety: Operating Budget $200,000 to $400,000.

  • The video is 20MB so we suggest that you download the video to your hard drive (link is unavailable).
  • In order to compress the production video from almost 1GB to 20MB we used a new video codec based on the new MPEG-4 compression standard for video. To view the gun safety video you will need to download and install the codec on your computer. «DOWNLOAD CODEC NOW »
  • Once installed, you will need to navigate to the location on your hard drive where you stored the video and double click the file name.
