School Crossing Guards

Welcome to the Seminole County School Crossing Guard site.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is responsible for all school crossing guards in Seminole County. The Crossing Guard Program is certified by the State of Florida through the Department of Transportation. The certification process consists of 5 hours of paid classroom training, working outside at a simulated crossing, and the final step is working an actual school crossing. The hourly rate of pay is $8.00 per hour when you work.

Minimum qualifications for the part time position of School Crossing Guard include the following:

  • Applicant must have a valid Florida Driver's License
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age
  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Applicant must be available Monday through Friday during morning and afternoon hours.

All applicants will be required to submit to a thorough background investigation, which includes, but is not limited to, past employment/education verification, driver's license review, prior drug use history, and arrest/conviction record.
