Student Internship Program
The Sheriff’s Office offers a student internship program for junior, senior or graduate students from local colleges. Interns can be placed in any department or division throughout the agency, including patrol, investigations, information technology, public affairs or corrections.
Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to a student’s academic/work schedule. While interns will be expected to complete their duties from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, some intern positions will have the flexibility to work on assignments from locations outside of the office.
Interns are encouraged to sit in on the Community Law Enforcement Academy which is held one night a week and provides a firsthand look at all areas of the agency’s operations. Interns may also participate in a Self-Awareness and Familiarization Exchange (SAFE) class, which is a personal awareness program designed to teach women basic safety and awareness skills.
The Sheriff’s Office offers internships both for credit hours and for non-credit hours. Those interns requiring school credit must provide a letter from their school outlining the guidelines of the internship (credit hours, scheduled hours, requirements, etc.).
